TerraMaster opens TOS 7 developer platform for Docker and Debian apps

TerraMaster’s new TOS 7 developer portal adds Docker and Debian packaging, automated validation, review tracking and CI/CD submission tools.

Quick summary: TerraMaster announced its TOS Developer Platform on 29 October 2026, giving third-party developers a documented route to submit Debian or Docker applications to the TOS 7 App Center. The launch includes automated validation, review tracking and an API intended for CI/CD workflows. A separate promotion pays up to US$30 for each eligible app approved by 30 April 2027.

A formal route into the TOS 7 App Center

The new portal is aimed at independent developers, open-source maintainers and self-hosting projects that want a supported listing inside TerraMaster’s NASAliExpress price software. It provides documentation and templates for native Debian .deb packages and containerised Docker apps, followed by a submission and review process for the global App Center.

This is an application-publishing programme, not an announcement that TOS itself has become open source. TerraMaster remains the gatekeeper for App Center listings and says submitted packages are checked against its review standards before publication.

Testing does not require a TerraMaster NAS

Developers can register with a valid email address; the company says real-name verification and ownership of a physical TerraMaster NASPriceAliExpress price are not required. Its guidance describes testing with a local Open TOS deployment, an Ubuntu 22.04 virtual machine or a remote test machine. That lowers the entry cost for maintainers who support several NAS platforms.

The portal adds self-service submissions, automated validation, review-status tracking and API access for continuous-integration pipelines. In practice, those tools should make repeatable packaging and updates easier than an informal, manual upload process. The more important test will be how quickly reviews are completed and how consistently apps are maintained after their first approval.

What the reward programme actually pays

TerraMaster’s published rules set a one-off reward of US$20 for an app supporting either x86-64 or Arm, and US$30 when the same software supports both architectures. Functionally identical variants, forks and repackaged editions do not earn separate payments, and the maximum is US$30 per piece of software.

The promotion runs from 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027 in Beijing time. An app must be approved and listed before the deadline; a submission still under review does not qualify. Developers outside mainland China are due to be paid in US dollars through PayPal, subject to the programme’s tax and eligibility terms.

Approved applications may also include an external HTTPS donation link. TerraMaster says it will neither process those payments nor take a commission, so the relationship remains between the developer and donor.

What it means for NAS and home-server users

A larger official catalogue could make TOS 7 more useful for self-hosted services without forcing users to build every container stack by hand. That matters when comparing TerraMaster with other ecosystems, as in our Synology, QNAP, UGREEN and TerraMaster guide, and for buyers prioritising the container workloads covered in our 4-bay NAS guide for Docker and Plex.

An App Center listing is not the same as a security audit, long-term support promise or performance guarantee. Although developers can prepare packages without the target hardware, real-NAS testing still matters for storage permissions, architecture differences, upgrades and recovery. Users should continue to check the maintainer, update history and requested privileges before installing an app.

Availability

The developer portal and documentation are available now, with the reward window closing on 30 April 2027. TerraMaster has not promised a minimum review time or a continuing payment beyond the listing promotion. For developers, the more durable part of the announcement is the documented submission pipeline and CI/CD API rather than the modest launch incentive.
